“The Infinite Possibilities of Artists” New Year Salon

On the evening of January 16, in Shanghai. Light fell on the paint panels, brushstrokes paused, flowed, then solidified—three-dimensional textures shimmered with subtle luster. The surrounding designers held their breath, witnessing not a traditional “wall decoration,” but a tactile language of painting.

When the vessel of “home” meets the expression of “artist,” the boundaries of space are being redefined—color is no longer just a backdrop, and texture is no longer an accessory; together, they shape the mood and memory of a space.

Ni Zhiqi’s Creative Experiment: “Paint Can Also Be a Painting Language”

Artist Ni Zhiqi experiences the paint product on-site, improvising on a canvas board

The most stunning moment of the evening belonged to artist Ni Zhiqi.

As one of the invited guests, he used iLuvVivid iLuvVivid’s art paint to improvise on-site. He picked up a palette knife and freely swept it across the canvas—brushstrokes paused, then flowed, finally solidifying into a three-dimensional, sculptural image.

The brushstrokes left by improvisation reveal the smooth, three-dimensional texture of artistic paint.

Everyone present fell silent. The moment the palette knife landed, the texture shimmered with a subtle luster. At this moment, “The Infinite Possibilities of the Artist” was no longer just a slogan, but a scene unfolding in reality.

“Today, I tried using artistic paint and found it has strong plasticity,” said Teacher Ni Zhiqi. “It’s smooth and three-dimensional, capable of carrying the imagination of ‘tactile painting.’ But today, there weren’t enough colors; next time, I’ll bring more.” — Teacher Ni Zhiqi

As Teacher Ni Zhiqi painted and spoke, these words signified genuine recognition of the material—he had already begun envisioning his next work.
At this moment, “The Infinite Possibilities of the Artist” was no longer just a slogan, but a scene unfolding in reality.

2025 New Product Launch: A Civilizational Narrative from Dunhuang to the Year of the Horse

New product “Three Hares Sharing Ears” Dunhuang series sample

That evening, iLuvVivid iLuvVivid showcased a series of samples specially developed for 2025-2026.

“Three Hares Sharing Ears” Dunhuang series first drew attention. Inspired by the caisson patterns of the Mogao Caves, three running hares share three ears, symbolizing “endless vitality.” A designer picked up the sample and examined it repeatedly, feeling the texture of the thousand-year-old murals restored through three-dimensional texture—not a “reproduction,” but a “translation.”

“Unfettered Imagination” Year of the Horse special totem. 2026 is the Year of the Horse in the lunar calendar, and the brand launched a design featuring the “Winged Horse” totem a year in advance. The pattern is inspired by ancient Chinese mythology and civilizations along the Silk Road, with a texture that is both powerful and graceful.

The exhibition also featured the “Bamboo Grove” texture from the CULTURAL series, the “Rose Garden” texture inspired by ethnic patterns, and several textured paints inspired by travertine, stone, and wood grain.

If AI tools solve “decision-making efficiency,” then the brand’s other core advantage lies in the “accessibility of high-end effects.”

iLuwVivid iLuvVivid offers a library of 50,000+ color and texture options, with specifications comparable to top international luxury brands, yet its “quality-to-price ratio” is about 30% higher. This means designers can achieve a high-end look within mid-range budgets—upholding design standards while saving clients money and freeing up space for soft furnishings.

Having worked in the fashion industry for many years, she has a particularly keen eye for color and materials.

She said: “The colors in a home aren’t just about whether they look good—they reflect a person’s current state of mind and determine whether you’re willing to linger in that space a little longer.”

After joining iLuwivid iLuvVivid, she started experimenting with different color and texture combinations in her own home. She found that the time spent in the living room increased, and her family became more willing to gather and chat in the same space.

Melvin Demonstrates: The Secret of “Zero Melanin”

Melvin, Chairman of iLuwVivid iLuvVivid, demonstrated the brand’s core technical features on-site.

He took out two black sample boards and shone a fill light on them from different angles. Traditional black appeared dull and grayish in low light; the other board remained pure and translucent even in the shadows.

“This is why we say ‘zero melanin’—not just for the concept, but to ensure that colors don’t ‘fall apart’ under any lighting conditions.”

Craftsmen Interpret Totem Techniques: From “Color Science” to “Texture Art”

A craftsman demonstrates the texture application technique of artistic coatings on site

If Melvin showcased “color science,” then the craftsman interpreted “texture art.”

iLuvVivid iLuvVivid’s craftsman demonstrated the intricate production technique of fine totems on site. Holding a variety of specialized tools—scrapers of different shapes, embossing rollers, and fine detail brushes—he meticulously carved, embossed, and outlined on the sample board. The coating material became like clay in a sculptor’s hands, gradually revealing complex totem patterns as tools switched and techniques changed.

Post-Salon Notes: A Conversation with the Brand Principals

iLuvVivid News|When Walls Become Canvases: A Dialogue on Color, Texture, and Improvisation

iLuvVivid CEO Sophia Wu, iLuvVivid Chairman Melvin

Melvin:
“We have a coating called ‘Frozen Persimmon,’ inspired by a winter snack from northern China. The coating not only presents the color of persimmons but also feels cool to the touch after application. This coating might evoke taste memories and awaken fond recollections of one’s hometown.”

“We draw extensive creative inspiration from film, art, and culture, transforming abstract perceptions into visible colors and tangible textures.”

Q: What observations have you made regarding trends in coating usage?

Sophia:
“In the past, people focused more on coating performance, such as mold and moisture resistance and ease of cleaning. Now, people pay more attention to the emotional value brought by color and texture. It’s rare to see all-white walls in residential spaces anymore. Additionally, the younger generation of consumers uses color more boldly and is more willing to experiment with innovative techniques.”

iLuvVivid News|When Walls Become Canvases: A Dialogue on Color, Texture, and Improvisation

As night deepened, the lights at ZiWU remained bright.

Upon leaving, the designers took away not only sample photos and color cards but also the brand’s gift of “Decoding Oriental Colors” Volume 2, along with priority booking access to color engineers. Several designers exchanged contact information and agreed to come together next time.

“This kind of salon should be held more often,” someone said. “Such in-depth exchanges are quite rare.”

iLuvVivid News|When Walls Become Canvases: A Dialogue on Color, Texture, and Improvisation

The “Infinite Possibilities of Artists” salon series will continue in the future. The next session might explore “Light, Shadow, and Texture,” or perhaps invite architects to discuss “The Second Skin of the Facade”—but the core remains unchanged: when the material itself possesses artistry, the boundaries of spatial design will be continuously expanded.

We look forward to meeting more designers at the next gathering.
